Image of the Month Feature - September 2008

RW/15/1 Plympton St Maurice Church, 1960s

This months image has been chosen from our ‘Nature and Iconic Views’ online gallery by Anne Chamings, Volunteer Archive Assistant.

"This image inspires some very fond memories for me, walking along the castle remains with my grand-daughter in recent years and before that I recall many happy childhood memories spent playing with friends around the castle remains looking down at old St Maurice and the scout hut, now gone.

Having grown up in the area of Plympton, I vividly recall venturing into 'The London Inn' on Church Road (to the right of the image) to collect the paper money where I would always be greeted with a glass of ginger wine given to me by the licensees to warm me up on cold saturday mornings!

I would love to know who the young boy is in the photograph."
