AD/6 Sir Francis Chichester Photographic Album, 1967

Sir Francis Chichester (17 September 1901 – 26 August 1972), aviator and sailor, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for becoming the first person to sail single-handed around the world by the clipper route, and the fastest circumnavigator, in nine months and one day overall.

Featured here are photographs scanned from a commemorative album presented to Sir Francis Chichester in 1967. Most of the images account for his various nautical ventures.

Includes images of Sir Francis with members of his family and crew and an image showing a cake made to honour his voyages, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1936, 1960, 1962, 1964, 1966 and 1967.
